What We're Watching: Zohra Opoku at Ano Ghana
"What We're Watching" is our ongoing series dedicated to highlighting global programming as pertains to fashion, design, and culture (and the business engines behind them) all across the diaspora. The Weekend Edition focuses on multidisciplinary artist Zohra Opoku's latest solo exhibition in Accra.
ACCRA, Ghana — Zohra Opoku is a dream and her photography-meets-textiles work only takes its viewers further down a lane of memory and shared history. Her latest exhibition on her home turf in Accra - When We Were Queens and Kings - will open at Ano Institute of Arts. Curated by Encyclopedia founder Nana Oforiatta-Ayim, Opoku's threading and re-threading personal narrative is expanded in a series "focused on collective identity, its symbols, iconography, gestures, and garments" per the curatorial statement. The exhibition will open with a performance and procession from Osu Castle during Chale Wote on August 19. On view until October 30.
